Here's some miscellaneous news about cycling issues of interest to me:
- Guildford Bike User Group (G-BUG) has been established to lobby for improvements to cycling infrastructure in the town: anyone can join, check out their facebook page. This is the right time, because Guildford Borough Council is planning a considerable investment in sustainable transport (aka cycling and walking): you can view the proposals in an online map, and can comment via an online questionnaire.

- Doug Clare, Chair of G-BUG, published an article in Guildford Dragon recently, proposing a safe cycling route to Guildford Station: the comments for and against are interesting
- after various refurbishments of Guildford High Street, all the signs for the National Cycle Network have been removed or obscured: a good example of the gap between grand talk about improving the profile of cycling and the reality on the ground

- some improvements are planned along the Blackwater Valley Cycle Route
- major flood prevention works are underway on the River Adur at Shoreham, which will lead to a prolonged closure of part of the Downs Link, see Shoreham Adur Tidal Walls web site.
- closures are planned on NCN21 at Gatwick South Terminal between 20th and 28th October 2016, although I believe cyclists will still be able to walk through
