Following my ride around the Punchbowl Loop, today, I tried out final loop of the recently opened Surrey Hills Cycle Trails. I parked in the car park opposite the Jolly Farmer Harvester Inn on the B3000 in Puttenham, and cycled the loop in the anticlockwise direction. A map of my track is here, in green, along with my tracks for the other four loops.
The trail surfaces were much better than on the other loops, maybe because, ironically, yesterday's heavy rain had firmed up the sand. There was also more scenic variety, including Puttenham Common, the countryside between Eashing and Compton, and the North Downs Way, an excellent 10 mile ride to while away a bright autumn afternoon. The loop has not yet been fully waymarked, so I appreciated having the route loaded on my GPS.
